The Devil Is Busy

We give the enemy far too much credit.

When we have a rough week or folks start Crip walking on our last nerve, we’re quick to say, “The devil is busy.” I get it and I’ve even said this myself. Maybe we’re thinking about 1 Peter 5:8, which tells us that the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. We place too much focus on the latter part of this verse. The beginning of this verse give us an imperative as a warning and as encouragement: “Be sober! Be vigilant!

But, let’s not forget: God is busy too!

He’s busy providing, protecting, and perfecting us. Jesus, at this very moment, is sitting at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us. The Holy Spirit, when we have no words, is interceding with groanings.

God is watching while we sleep. He’s orchestrating our lives and ordering our steps. He’s pulling us out of pits – even the ones we walked right into after ignoring His warnings.

He fills us with purpose and passion. He listens to our prayers. He answers them. He reminds us that He’s there.

There is NO WAY the enemy is doing all of the that.

So, yes, the devil is busy.

But God? God is the busiest!

And He never clocks out.

Indeed, He who watches over Israel never slumbers nor sleeps.”

Psalm 121:4

Take a moment today to look for where God is working in your life, no matter how subtle. Praise Him for it. Thank Him for it. Write it down. Speak it out loud.

He deserves the credit!

What is God busy doing for you right now?
